Before we get to this story…WTF happened to Ken? Is he dead, missing, being held hostage? Why aren’t there a bunch of new Ken dolls? This is ridiculous and our nation needs to demand answers from Mattel!!!

Last year, Barbie came out with a Day of the Dead doll and now they’re giving us a second one. The toy maker’s Dia De Muertos 2020 doll also honors the holiday, also known as “Day of the Dead,” which is celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd. It’s a time for celebrating loved ones who have died and this Barbie “honors the traditions, symbols and rituals often seen throughout this time.”

This second collectibles doll was designed by Mexican American designer Javier Meabe, who used his personal background and family traditions as inspiration. “As a Mexican American designer, it was important to me to use my creative voice to design a doll that celebrates the bright colors and vivid textures of my culture,” he explains.

The 2020 doll comes with a braided updo and a flower crown in her hair, a painted Calavera face design and a blush-colored lace dress that’s embellished with tiny pearls and has a second layer with embroidered flowers and sugar skull designs. Barbie fans can buy her for $75 on Barbie’s website, or at retailers like Amazon and Target.
