The struggle to keep the passion alive in a long-term relationship is real, but now scientists have a better idea of why. After asking 1,099 people with an average age of 35 about the details of their sex lives and romances, researchers have come up with a list of 78 challenges couples face that could be causing them to have less sex.

The responses from men and women were pretty similar, but it’s the fellas who were more likely to admit they had failed to make an effort with their relationship or to stay faithful. Topping the list for zapping the spark? For a third of couples it’s “lack of enthusiasm,” with “lack of personal time and space” coming in a close second. Surprisingly, cheating doesn’t make an appearance on the list until number five.
