There’s no doubt this year’s election season has been pretty stressful, but according to a new poll it’s also been inspiring for a lot of people.

A new survey finds:

  • 79% of Americans say the 2020 election has made them want to take a stand for what they believe in.
  • The number one way they plan to do so is to vote in the Presidential election (59%), followed by:
    • Share their opinions more openly (44%)
    • Have more conversations with loved ones about important issues (41%)
    • Educating themself on current issues (39%)
    • Educating others on how to vote (32%)
    • Help others vote (drive them to polls, help them sign up for mail-in ballots)(29%)
    • Sign petitions (27%)
    • Donate to causes they believe in (24%)
    • Volunteer for causes they believe in (23%)
    • Participate in protests/rallies/marches (19%)
  • Overall, 68% of people say they are more politically active than they’ve ever been in the past.
  • 73% believe this is the most important election of their life.

When it comes to voting this year, those who have or will vote in person are expecting long lines.

  • In fact, 75% expect it to take longer to cast their ballot this year.
  • The average person is willing to wait five hours to vote.
  • Some do have concerns about the wait though, with the top worries being:
    • Concerns about social distancing/staying safe with COVID-19 (24%)
    • General aches and pains (22%)
    • The weather (21%)
    • My job (only have a short break/can’t wait in line all day) (12%)
