Nebraska men’s basketball overcame a sluggish first half to cruise to a 73-53 win over Division II Grand Valley State in the Huskers’ lone exhibition game before the 2024-25 season.

Nebraska held just a 35-30 lead at halftime, as the Lakers shot 39 percent from the field and hit five three-pointers to the Huskers’ three. But Nebraska’s defense picked up in the second half, holding Grand Valley State to 5-for-30 shooting and just 3-for-15 from behind the arc. NU dominated the paint, outscoring the Lakers, 42-12.

Rutgers transfer Gavin Griffiths led the Huskers in scoring with 14 points on four-for-six shooting from three-point range. Brice Williams added 13 points while UCLA transfer Berke Buyuktuncel led Nebraska on the glass with 12 rebounds.
