The No. 6 Nebraska wrestling team dominated No. 16 Northern Iowa, as the Cornhuskers won eight of ten matches in the dual to cruise to a 30-6 dual victory.
After a loss at 125, four straight wins, including back-to-back technical fall wins, gave Nebraska control of the dual and built a 16-3 lead. At 133 pounds, No. 8 Jacob Van Dee held off Julian Farber to win, 5-0. Brock Hardy followed at 141 pounds with a 5-1 win over No. 11 Cory Land in one of the best matchups of the day. At 149 pounds, No. 12 Chance Lamer won by technical fall over Ethan Basile, 19-4 for the Huskers’ first bonus-point win of the match. Antrell Taylor, fifth-ranked at 157 pounds, followed with a 22-6 tech fall over RJ Weston. After No. 11 Ryder Downey upset NU’s No. 7 LJ Araujo in sudden victory time at 165 pounds, 3-0, No. 6 Christopher Minto won by major decision against No. 10 Jaren Simma, 10-1, at 174 pounds. That sparked a four-match winning streak to end the dual, including No. 9 Silas Allred winning by decision over Nick Fox at 184 pounds, No. 12 Camden McDanel winning by decision over John Gunderson, 7-3. Then at heavyweight, Harley Andrews won by major decision over Adam Ahrendsen, 16-7.
Nebraska is next in action Friday against Purdue at John Cook Arena. The Big Ten opener is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
