ESPN college football writer Pete Thamel reported Friday morning that Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea plans to re-sign with the Cornhuskers for the 2027 season, his final year of eligibility. Thamel cited comments from Colandrea’s agent, Noah Reisenfeld, CEO of 21 Sports and Entertainment.
In his first year with Nebraska, Colandrea has driven the Huskers offense, starting every game at quarterback. He has completed 62 percent of his passes for 1,570 yards and 14 touchdowns, while throwing just four interceptions. He is also Nebraska’s second-leading rusher, gaining 334 yards with four touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry. His role in the offense has only grown as NU has battled injuries at the running back position the last few weeks.
Colandrea announced his re-signing now, according to his agent, because he was “miffed” by the speculation that he would be transferring elsewhere for next season. In his news conference on Oct. 19, the Monday after the Oregon game, coach Matt Rhule said that several SEC programs had reached out to Colandrea about transferring to their school. Colandrea’s announcement also comes at the beginning of a big recruiting weekend for Nebraska, as several big prospects are expected to visit for the Blackout game against Washington tomorrow.
Pregame coverage of the Halloween matchup between Nebraska and Washington will begin at 3 p.m Saturday, with kickoff at 7 p.m., on KLIN and Froggy 98.
