No. 23 Nebraska needed a strong fourth quarter to surge past Southeastern Louisiana, 78-68, Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Trailing 57-51, the Huskers (2-0) outscored the Lions (1-1) 23-11 in the final period to capture the victory.

Natalie Potts led Nebraska, scoring 17 points including four three-pointers. That made up for the absence of Britt Prince, who missed the game with a minor injury, and the struggles of Alexis Markowski, who scored nine points on just 2-for-8 shooting. The Huskers’ perimeter shooting was key, as NU was 14-for-29 behind the arc, including 7-for-14 in the second half. The work on the perimeter was necessary, as the Lions outscored the Huskers in the paint, 40-24.

Logan Nissley added 14 points on 4-for-10 shooting from three-point range, while Alberte Rimdal, making her first start as a Husker in Prince’s place, scored 14 points on 3-for-6 shooting from three. Petra Bozan scored 11 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting from the field, including two threes.

SLU was led by 24 points by Alexius Horne and 14 points from Lexi Alexander. The Lions put a scare into the crowd at PBA with an 18-15 lead through one quarter and a 37-31 advantage at half.

Nebraska now prepares to take on Southern Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on KLIN and B-107.3.
