Even in his second stint as UCF’s head football coach, former Nebraska player and coach Scott Frost can’t stop stirring the ire of his alma mater and fans from his home state. After taking the podium at the Big 12 Media Days in Frisco, Texas, Frost spoke with Chris Vannini of The Athletic. Vannini asked Frost what he learned from his unsuccessful stint as the Huskers’ head coach, during which Frost was 16-31 in five seasons. Frost responded, “Don’t take the wrong job.”

Frost went on to say, “I didn’t want to leave UCF. I always said I would never leave unless it was some place you could go and potentially win a national championship. I got tugged in a direction to go try to help my alma mater, and I didn’t really want to do it. It wasn’t a good move. I’m lucky to get back to a place where I was a lot happier.”

After being fired as Nebraska’s head coach, Frost received a $16.4 million buyout. He stayed out of coaching for two years before returning to work for Sean McVay’s staff for the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL. Frost was re-hired as UCF’s head football coach last winter.
