Nebraska football will start the 2025 season unranked according to the coaches, as the 2025 preseason AFCA Poll was released Monday. The Huskers received the 39th most points with 16, well behind the 246 points in the poll of No. 25 Boise State.
Texas claimed the top spot with 29 first-place votes. Two Big Ten teams, Ohio State and Penn State, followed. The Buckeyes rebounded from losing the regular season finale to Michigan to win the national championship. The Nittany Lions were picked as a slight favorite to win the Big Ten in the Cleveland.com preseason poll. Rounding out the top five were Georgia and Notre Dame.
In all, six Big Ten teams were included in the preseason top 25. Five more received votes but didn’t have enough to get into the preseason top 25 from the coaches. The Associated Press will announce its preseason poll later in the year.
