The Nebraska volleyball team will head to Las Vegas for two August matches, facing UNLV on Aug. 29 before taking on longtime rival Texas on Aug. 30. Both matches will be held at the T-Mobile Center, the home arena for the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights. These two matches will officially start the Cornhuskers’ 2026 season.
Nebraska has never faced UNLV in volleyball, but the Huskers have a long history with Texas, dating back to the 1995 NCAA finals, in which NU secured its first-ever national championship by beating the Longhorns. Then the teams battled in the Big 12 for 13 years. The rivalry was most recently renewed in the 2024 NCAA finals, in which Texas swept Nebraska.
The Huskers’ schedule now includes the exhibition match at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, a trip to Las Vegas to open the regular season, then a match at historic Wrigley Field in Chicago.
